About this blog

I began it in November, 2007, to help me make friends and ask questions for my participation in the 2008 TGO Challenge, “an annual self-supported walking event across the Highlands of Scotland, west coast to east coast.” Hence the title. I did make some terrific friends, and I got lots of good advice, too. Infuriatingly, an ankle sprained on a New England trail in April was finished off by the Knoydart in May, and I had to withdraw from the crossing after only four days. I still hope return. Since then I've walked in France, Spain, and New Zealand, not to mention my home mountains: the Whites of New Hampshire. The blog took on a life of its own, has suffered a hiatus for cause, and it’s now about to attempt a comeback. Fingers crossed.
